SEEDS: Sovereign Cinema Event

This Indigenous Peoples Day, we're showing SEEDS, a thriller that captures the strength of our Indigenous women/femmes in the continued movement to combat the theft of traditional food and knowledge systems by actively protecting these practices, against all odds ✊🏾

-

🎥Film synopsis:

A Mohawk woman is hired as a social media influencer but gets caught in a deadly cat-and-mouse game, as she's forced to go to war to preserve her people's heritage from corporate interests.

-

😎Our brother, Dallas Goldtooth, will share a pre-recorded introduction to the film, which you definitely won't want to miss.

-

Presented with The Grand Cinema as a part of Sovereign Cinema—a film series centering Indigenous stories of reclamation, resistance, and resilience.

-

🎤Stick around for an in-theater panel with local Indigenous food sovereignty leaders and medicine practitioners, Melissa Meyer, of Rose Island Farm, and Channa Bliner-Smith, of Canoe Journey Herbalists and Center for Indigenous Midwifery, moderated by Indigenous Researcher and Educator, Sauncha Romey!

-

Then, gather with us in the Lounge over refreshments and community resource sharing 🌿
